Sebastijan Borovčak

Sebastijan Borovčak (b. 1999, Virovitica) completed his undergraduate studies in Media Culture at the Academy of Arts and Culture in Osijek in 2021. He then completed an undergraduate degree in Cinematography at the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb, where he continued his education at the graduate programme in Documentary Directing.

He works in cinematography, photography and directing. He is the author of the documentary film Somewhere Around Here (Kinoklub Zagreb, 2024), which was screened in the official selection of the Liburnia Film Festival and at Filmska RUNDA. His photography series They Leave at Dawn was exhibited at the Maksimir Centre for Culture and Information in 2024, while a short documentary film of the same title is currently in production with Hulahop.

With the documentary-experimental film Our Garden at the End of the World (Kinoklub Zagreb, 2025), he won the Best Sound Design Award at the 23rd Liburnia Film Festival. His film Peaceful Valley (Academy of Dramatic Art, 2025) received a Special Mention in the Regional Competition of the 23rd ZagrebDox festival.

He is a regular member of Kinoklub Zagreb and is currently developing several documentary and experimental projects.
