umpaci - Composer/guitarist

I am Aleksandar Tausanov, a composer and jazz guitarist from North Macedonia, with over twenty years of experience in live performance and more than fifteen years dedicated to music creation. I hold a degree in jazz guitar, having graduated in the class of Toni Kitanovski—an education that deeply shaped my technical foundation, musical sensitivity, and understanding of form and interaction.

The guitar is central to my artistic identity. Through decades of live performances in clubs, concert venues, and festivals, I have developed an intimate and intuitive relationship with the instrument—as both a melodic voice and a source of texture, atmosphere, and rhythm. My experience on stage has profoundly influenced my sense of timing, dynamics, and emotional pacing, all of which inform my approach to composition.

I am a member of the band Troja, with which I have performed extensively across diverse live contexts. In parallel, I have collaborated and performed with a number of prominent Macedonian artists. Notably, I have performed blues music in collaboration with Igor Džambazov, an experience that further deepened my connection to groove-based and expressive musical forms.

While jazz forms the foundation of my musical language, my work moves freely through blues, funk, and world music, allowing rhythm, cultural color, and expressive nuance to play a central role in my compositions. Improvisation remains a defining element of my creative process, guiding my approach to form, space, and emotional flow.

In 2024, I released my first studio album, marking an important milestone in defining my voice as a composer. My music is available on digital platforms such as YouTube and Spotify, where it reflects an ongoing exploration of sound, texture, and personal expression.

Although I have not previously composed music for film, my interest in film scoring emerges organically from my long-standing engagement with narrative, atmosphere, and emotional continuity through music. I approach composition as a form of storytelling—one that respects silence, serves the image, and enhances emotional depth. My transition into film music represents a natural expansion of my artistic journey and an exploration of new cinematic and narrative possibilities.
